Ryan Walters, Oklahoma State Schools’ superintendent, stated that the Bible is a core’ historical document’ fundamental to instruction.
The top elected education official in Oklahoma declared on Thursday that he was getting extremely close to his aim of putting a Bible in “every school” in the Sooner State. This decision would ensure that students have access to a unique “historical document” and counteract “woke” curricula found in modern textbooks.
In an interview with the media, Ryan Walters, the Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Instruction, stated that America’s founders sought the Bible when organizing the Republic and that today’s generation understands the texts from which the country they live is based.
Walters stated that his department has allocated over $3 million of its budget to the attempt and announced that he will seek an additional $3 million in an upcoming legislative appropriation from the Republican-majority legislature to meet his goal.
He stated, “Several mechanisms could have been used here.” “Districts could have used the money already allocated for it. They could have used their textbook funds. But what we’re doing is we, as the state Department of Education, we’re saying we’re going to purchase the Bible for every classroom with $3 million.”
“That is what will be a new announcement today: We are actually going to purchase them, deliver them to the schools. And then number two, we’re going to be asking for $3 million moving forward to continue to supply the schools with Bibles moving forward.”
Walters stated that parents are more excited to see Bibles back in schools so that their children ” will have an understanding of the role the Bible played in American history.”
He noted that Bibles in non-parochial schools were standard decades ago. In an interview, Walters noted that a faint din of protesters could be heard outside the window.

He added, “We saw the Supreme Court being weaponized against the Bible in the classroom and prayer in school back in the 1960s. And again, with the help of the teachers’ union, they were able to drive it out of our schools.”
Walters announced early in June that school districts must incorporate Bibles in the schools. However, the declaration made on Thursday was notable and continues to secure the funding so that the text can provide the text directly.
Former president Donald Trump has spoken as the “wokeness,” including schools and also talked about the significance of the founding fathers and their faith in building the country.
Walters stated he is taking those thoughts and working with them.
He stated, “I think you’re going to see a trend moving forward that other states are going to follow Oklahoma’s example.”
