Lithium-ion battery safety advice from the Tulsa Fire Department is to keep them out of the reach of kids and animals.
The Tulsa Fire Department in Oklahoma published a video demonstrating how a dog gnawing on a lithium-ion battery accidentally started a house fire.
From an inside surveillance camera in the living room of the house, two dogs and a cat can be seen in the footage. A lithium-ion battery pack is chewed on by one dog to the point that it explodes and sets the home on fire.
A fast-acting fire brigade extinguished the ensuing fire. A dog door allowed the critters to all escape the burning house.
