The New York Daily News reports that Mayor Eric Adams has in the past shown support for efforts to establish reparation programs in the state.
The authorities in New York City are looking at a variety of other potential solutions outside only addressing the “Black-White wealth gap” The “other racial wealth gaps (that is, Indigenous or other groups)” were also something that the experts took into consideration.
In accordance with the findings of the study, the “goal” of reparations “would be to seek acknowledgment, redress, and closure for America’s complicity in federal, state, and local policies — including slavery, Jim Crow, and ongoing systemic racism — that have deprived Black Americans of equitable access to wealth and wealth-building opportunities.”
As reported by the New York Daily News, Mayor Eric Adams of New York City has openly announced his support for reparations in 2022, advocating a political effort in Albany “to lay the groundwork for Black New Yorkers to receive reparations for slavery.”
In the year 2022, Adams made a statement in which he declared that “we need to zero in on some of those corporations and companies that foundation of their wealth came from slavery.” It’s about time, and I’ve been waiting a long time for it to come around.
