A man is in jail after it is claimed that a young girl woke up next to him in her own bed.
At one in the morning on Sunday, police in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, were called to a burglary that was already underway.
The 9-year-old victim woke up to an unidentified adult male in her bed wearing only underpants, police stated in a press statement, and immediately fled her room to tell her father.
When the father went into the child’s room, he saw a man sitting on his daughter’s bed, covered in a blanket.
Before the police came, the man fled from the flat. According to the homeowner, he was a Caucasian male with red hair, about 250 pounds, with an Irish accent.
Police were informed by the girl that the man had inappropriately touched her.
Bensalem police immediately searched the area and were directed to a nearby flat occupied by 32-year-old Paddy Patrick Purcell. The individual who was in the victim’s bedroom was recognized as Purcell.
Charges against Purcell include burglary, criminal trespass, and indecent assault on a minor. In lieu of 10% of the $1,000,000 bond, he was arraigned and taken to the Bucks County Detention Center.
