Spring is finally here! It’s time to come out of your winter den, get out into the sunshine and enjoy some much-needed rest and relaxation after a hard slog. Spring break is the perfect time to bust up the monotony of your normal routine and do something a little different, so get ready to be inspired by these ideas and make the most of it!
Go on a Road Trip
Getting out on the open road can bring all sorts of possibilities for new discoveries. Load up that playlist, grab a friend or two and go somewhere you’ve never been. Who knows what kind of adventures are out there?
Book a Cruise
A Bahamas cruise may be just what you need to get your mind off work and stress back home. There’s nothing quite like being out on the open sea. Better yet, cruises have all the greatest accommodations to make you feel like royalty. Have some drinks, relax by the pool, get a massage and enjoy the delicious food.
Learn to Cook
Since you’ve got some extra time, why not use it to learn a new recipe or two? There’s something about making your own meals that makes you feel independent and accomplished. Not to mention, cooking is healthier for you than eating out all the time. If you don’t normally cook, this could be the perfect time to give it a try. Who knows? You may discover you have a new favorite hobby.
Go on a Hike
Getting out in nature and challenging your body with a hike is good for you physically and mentally. The sight of the mountains, trees and rivers give you a sense that you’re right where you belong and can rejuvenate you better than just about anything else.
Catch up on Your Reading
It can be hard to find the extra time to read with your busy schedule, but there’s something to be said for getting immersed in a really good mystery or crime novel. The nice thing about books is that you can take them anywhere, so even if you’re going on vacation or out to a park, you can bring a book with you. And, of course, if you’re staying in, reading on the couch is always a nice option, too.
Volunteer
Even though it’s not the most glamorous way to spend your time, you can always volunteer at a soup kitchen or an animal shelter. There is no shortage of organizations that need help, and helping others can fill you with a sense of satisfaction and good feelings.
Check Out a Museum
If you are interested in cultivating your cultured self, then going to a museum or two may be the thing for you. Museums contain all sorts of treasures that you can’t see anywhere else. Switch it up and check out different types of museums like science, natural history and art. One side benefit of this activity is that there is typically a suggested donation, so you are welcome to pay whatever you’re able to, even if it’s nothing.
Host a Movie Marathon
There’s nothing wrong with staying inside for a night and watching some of your favorite flicks. Get some of your friends together, heat up the popcorn and host a themed movie marathon. Some theme ideas may include buddy cop, horror, or (appropriately) spring break.
Visit a Park
Take some time and do something simple like enjoy a local park. You can bring a picnic lunch and blanket or just go for a walk and breathe in the fresh air. Either way, you’ll be able to enjoy some quality time in the sunshine.
The time available to you during spring break is yours to spend. These are merely suggestions to get your motors running. Everyone’s different, though, so live it up in whatever way you see fit. Just make sure you take advantage of this well-deserved time off, and, most importantly, have fun!
