At the age of 15, he used his father’s convertible to fund his racing ambitions. With the proceeds from his father’s car conversion, he purchased a Mini Cooper S, which he competed in hill climbing races at the age of 19.

Niki Lauda’s Career
He began racing in Formula Vee at the age of 22 and quickly advanced to Formula One in 1971. He made his March-Ford debut at the Austrian Grand Prix before joining Ferrari in 1974. During this time, he established himself as one of the world’s top drivers, winning the World Drivers’ Championship in 1975, 1977, and 1984.
He returned to racing after recovering and even beat off close opponent James Hunt to win the championship.
