Friday, Chelsea paid Villarreal €37 million ($40,6 million) to acquire forward Nicolas Jackson.
After completing his medical on Sunday, Jackson inked an eight-year contract with the West London club.
The Senegalese forward appeared in 38 matches across all competitions for Villarreal last year, netting 13 goals and registering four assists.
Jackson’s eight-year deal follows Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk, who signed eight-and-a-half-year contracts with the club in January. Jackson’s contract is the latest in a string of lengthy contracts handed out by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, the consortium that acquired Chelsea in 2022.
The forward is Chelsea’s second addition to the transfer window, following the recent acquisition of Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig.
Jackson’s arrival at Chelsea coincides with sweeping alterations to the team’s roster as the club attempts to shape its roster to the liking of new head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
Chelsea has allowed prominent players to depart the club this summer, with N’Golo Kante and Kalidou Koulibaly joining Saudi Arabian clubs, and sources told ESPN on Thursday that Manchester United has agreed to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea.
