In response to the county commissioner’s involvement in the Capitol Hill incident on January 6, 2021, a judge in New Mexico removed him from office and barred him from seeking elective office again.
On Tuesday, New Mexico State District Court Judge Francis Mathew issued an order that prevents Cowboys for Trump co-founder Couy Griffin from ever again running for or holding any kind of municipal, state, or federal office.
After Griffin illegally entered Capitol grounds on January 6, he was found guilty of a misdemeanor in federal court. Due to the time already spent, his sentence was reduced to 14 days.
Griffin is also immediately removed from his position as a commissioner in Otero County, New Mexico, due to the verdict.
