Netherlands: A20 closed in two places due to accidents

ROTTERDAM – The A20, Gouda in the direction of Hoek van Holland, is closed on Monday evening at Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel due to an accident with two trucks, reports the ANWB. One of the trucks has rammed a pillar of an overpass.

The accident caused diesel and glycerol to hit the road. This liquid is difficult to remove. The expectation is that the road will be closed until at least 02.00 in the night from Monday to Tuesday.

Traffic from Utrecht to Rotterdam is advised to drive via The Hague (A12) and from there via the A4 towards Rotterdam.

Earlier in the evening the A20 was also closed off at Kleinpolderplein in the direction of Rotterdam by an accident with two trucks. That part of the road was released just after 9 p.m. The connecting road from the A13 from The Hague to the A20 has also been briefly closed.
