The criminal activity of adolescents has increased in several urban areas during the course of the last year.
In the last year, there has been a rise in the amount of youth crime committed in cities all throughout the United States. The crimes that occur in Memphis, Tennessee range from carjacking and robbery to involvement in gangs; as a result, a major group of the city’s pastors want to see a shift in the city’s criminal climate.
A new initiative known as Youth Violence Intervention Love was launched by the Memphis Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference this past summer. Instead of participating in delinquent activity, the program focuses on creating a safe environment in which young people may improve their interpersonal, management, and collaborative skills. This is done rather than encouraging them to engage in delinquent behavior.
