Then, when Macon was 16 years old, a court referee stated in a hearing that took place in 1996 in the juvenile court of Ingham County that, although Macon was making progress in a program for sexual offenders, he required “forever vigilance.” Before reaching age 18, he spent time in at least three homes for troubled adolescents.
According to the notes taken by the court referee at Macon’s hearing, the referee describes Macon’s sexual misconduct as “like an addiction.” Macon got accused of killing at least six women, according to the police. He again appeared in court charged with murder in connection with the death of Sandra Eichorn, who was 64 years old and had died on August 27. He was accused of murdering the following people Ruth Hallman, 76; Deborah Cooke, 36; Debra Renfors, 46; Sandra Eichorn, 64; and Karen Delgado-Yates, 41.

All his murders began on July 26, one month after Macon was paroled for his third theft conviction. 76-year-old Ruth Hallman was attacked and fatally injured but died after spending three days at the hospital. On August 7, 2007, two weeks later, police officers found the body of 36-year-old Deborah Kaye Cooke under a tree in an east-side park. Police reports show that she was hurt physically. Again at 1017 North Washington Avenue, two days after the murder of Deborah, police responded to a 911 call that got placed there.
The body of Debra Renfors, who was 46 years old, was discovered by the police. On August 27, a family member found Sandra Eichorn, who was 64 at the time, dead on the floor of her home on South Genesee Drive. The police stated that the victim was murdered but refused to comment on how they died.
On August 28, a woman who was 56 years old got attacked while at home on Jones Street. On August 29, a group of possible real estate investors found Karen Delgado-Yates, 41 years old. They found her in a vacant home located at 1115 Hickory Street. She was found to be barely alive. Macon got taken into custody after a composite sketch of the suspect was created based on the description provided by the victim, who had survived the attack.
