The former Arsenal legend also made predictions about Eddie’s future and he claims that the young striker will extend his contract with Arsenal.
‘There’s no way that he’s leaving, surely, after that kind of performance,’ Keown added.
‘He’s been extremely patient, he went out on loan to Leeds.
‘It was interesting when [Marcelo] Bielsa was talking about how much he didn’t want him to go, we kind of took a bit of notice of that because he has a big reputation.
‘He’s come back, the manager explained he’s not been fair, and that’s very honest.
‘Look at his performance tonight when he got his chance, boy did he take it. And in a very big arena here.. He would’ve dreamt of doing this
Paul Merson has also heaped praises on Bukayo Saka for his impressive statistics this season
The former Arsenal player hailed Saka’s incredible statistics this season before the Chelsea victory.
Saka had nine goals and five assists in 31 Premier League games before last night’s game
Speaking on Sky Sport ahead of the London derby the Arsenal Icon said:
‘He’s [Saka] the bright spark for Arsenal, he’s the danger man and they don’t have a lot of danger men. The figures he’s putting up there are phenomenal,’ Merson said.
‘When you put those types of figures up in a top, a top team you know he’s a quality player.
He plays in a hard position on the football pitch, it’s a position where you can get so much of the ball that you get fed up with it or it’s the other way round and you don’t see it all through the game.
‘They [opposition defenders] double upon him, when teams go out, he’s on the radar, [they try to] stop him playing.’
