Five people were fatally shot early Saturday morning in the southern portion of San Jacinto County, Texas, according to police.
At midnight, the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of “harassment” and discovered that five individuals had been shot at a residence in the Trail End Subdivision west of Cleveland. Four individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene, and a fifth passed away at a nearby hospital.
Three additional victims were transported to the hospital “covered in blood,” according to the sheriff’s office. It was unclear whether they had been injured or whether the blood belonged to other victims.
According to Sheriff Greg Capers, the victims were from Honduras. He stated that ten individuals resided in the house. Four adults, one male, and three females, were slain, while the youngest victim was only eight. Three additional victims transported to the hospital were minors.
“When we arrived, the two females in the bedroom were actually laying on top of two of the three younger children who had survived,” Capers explained.
The police have identified a shooter suspect and are actively searching for him. The alleged perpetrator is a “Mexican male from Mexico.” The office of the constable possesses a copy of his consular identification card.
The suspect has been observed firing a firearm in the front yard of the residence, according to Capers. There, police discovered shell projectiles. It is believed that the suspect is not in the area. An investigation is ongoing into the shooting.
