Sources report that Manchester United has reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Mason Mount.
United will pay an initial £55 million ($69.4 million) plus an additional £5 million ($6.3 million) in add-ons.
According to sources cited by ESPN, Chelsea’s incentives are “heavily dependent” on Mount’s appearances and success at Old Trafford.
According to sources, Mount is currently on vacation, so his medical with United is scheduled to take place the following week.
The two clubs have achieved an agreement after Chelsea initially demanded £70 million for the Englishman. Chelsea has rejected United’s proposals totaling £40m, £50m, and £55m.
Mount, 24, was entering the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge, and negotiations for a new contract had broken down. If he had remained at Chelsea, he could have left as a free agent next summer.
He will be the first player-manager Erik ten Hag signed this summer.
Mount has made 195 appearances for his boyhood club, Chelsea. In 2021, he was a member of the club that won the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel.
Mount, who has agreed to personal terms with United, will endure a medical and be included in Ten Hag’s squad for the 20 July start of the preseason tour of the United States.
On July 12, he could make his United debut in an exhibition match against Leeds United in Oslo.
