Sources report that Manchester City has agreed to terms with Rennes for winger Jérémy Doku.
City have agreed to pay €65 million ($71 million) for the Belgian forward, who will now travel to Manchester for a medical.
The 21-year-old will replace Riyad Mahrez, who transferred to Al Ahli earlier this summer, at the Etihad Stadium.
Doku, who will be the club’s third signing of the summer after Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol, has scored 12 goals in 91 appearances since joining Rennes in 2020 from Anderlecht. He has earned 14 Belgium caps, scoring twice, and was a 2022 World Cup squad member.
City will resume their search for a midfielder to replace Kevin De Bruyne after signing Doku. The 32-year-old has been declared out until the new year due to a hamstring injury that required surgery.
City has expressed interest in West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paquetá, but talks have been paused after a betting investigation was opened into the 25-year-old Brazilian.
Meanwhile, negotiations are proceeding with Barcelona regarding the transfer of Joo Cancelo. The fullback is anticipated to sign a loan agreement with the option to make it permanent next summer.
Aymeric Laporte is also close to joining Al Nassr after the Saudi Pro League club reached an agreement with City on a transfer fee. Laporte and Cancelo were not included in the roster for Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Newcastle United.
