Liverpool Football Club announced on their official website the signing of Fulham winger Fabio Carvalho.

The signing of the youngster becomes Liverpool’s first signing of the summer. Liverpool and Fulham agreed to a deal in January but failed to complete paperwork before the transfer deadline date.

Liverpool is expected to pay an initial fee of £5 million and £ 2.5 million adds on. Fulham will get 20% of the transfer fees if the Portuguese youngster is sold in the future.

The 19-year-old has been sensational for Fulham in their fight in seeking a return to the Premier League scoring 10 goals and providing 8 assists in the Champions.

Born in Torres Vedras in Portugal,Fábio Carvalho played for Benfica academy before moving to England. He has represented England at under 16,17 and 18 before deciding to play for Portugal under 21.

Because Fabio has played for the England youth level, He qualifies to be registered as a homegrown player in the Premier League. The 19 years old winger is expected to join the Liverpool squad for pre-season in Asia against Manchester United and Crystal Palace.

What did Fabio Carvalho say after the deal was complete?

The youngster is expected to join Liverpool on 1 July told Liverpool’s official website after completing the move saying: “That’s one thing I chose to do, and obviously the club as well,” Carvalho explained.

“They said that they wanted me to stay and I think it was the right thing to do – if the move went through – because it was going to be a big step.

“Being able to see the season out was good, because look what we achieved and how much I’ve grown, so I’m glad it happened like that.”

Fabio also confirmed he talked with former Fulham teammates before the move.

Fabio Carvalho added:“[We talked] a bit because obviously he’s got his own season to think about and I’ve got my own,” he explained.

“I didn’t want to go off track, I wanted to be fully focused on Fulham and making sure that we got promoted.

“So we kind of spoke a bit. Not into depth.

“He just asked me how I was and I asked him how he was, and we just had a bit of back and forth about how our season’s gone and just to keep going.

“But I haven’t really spoken to him that much.”

Despite having a deal in principle to move to Anfield at the end of the season. Fabio reveals that he was 100 percent focused on helping Fulham secure Premier League retire.

Fabio Carvalho continued: “The main thing to do was get Fulham back to the Premier League.

“When we lose, you could tell that I’m hurt because I don’t like losing at all – especially Fulham because the fans and the team have given me so much.

“I felt the need to pay them back through my goals and my contributions.

“You can tell, the way I celebrate goals, it means a lot to me. I’m glad you and the Fulham fans I’m sure have been able to notice that.”
