Legislators and others weigh in on the DHS’s “disinformation” board, raising concerns about free speech.

Secretary Mayorkas announced the establishment of the ‘Disinformation Governance Board’ on Wednesday.

Several dozen senators from across the country, constitutional professors, and other experts are concerned about the Department of Homeland Security’s new misinformation board, which was established last month.

According to Mayorkas, who announced during a hearing before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security on Wednesday, the Department of Homeland Security has formed a Disinformation Governance Board to counteract internet misinformation.

According to Mayorkas, “the goal is to bring together the resources of (the Department of Homeland Security) to confront this problem.” Mayorkas went on to say that the department is concentrating on disinformation among minorities in the run-up to the 2022 midterm elections.
