Hong Kong is one of the world’s most vibrant and cosmopolitan cities. It is also one of the busiest legal markets, with a large and growing number of law firms and lawyers.

The legal profession in Hong Kong is highly competitive, and lawyers are constantly looking for ways to stand out from the crowd. One way to do this is to become involved in the city’s many legal networks and communities.

Lawyers in Hong Kong are also active in promoting the city’s rule of law and human rights. They are essential in ensuring that the city’s legal system is fair and accessible.

When finding a family lawyer in Hong Kong, there are many factors to consider. Here are four tips to help you find the right lawyer for your family:

1. Determine your family’s legal needs.

2. Research different family lawyers in Hong Kong.

3. Schedule a consultation with a few family lawyers.

4. Make sure you are comfortable with your chosen family lawyer.

What Are Lawyers Called in Hong Kong?

In Hong Kong, lawyers are called solicitors. They are regulated by the Law Society of Hong Kong, the professional body for solicitors in Hong Kong. There are over 3,000 solicitors in Hong Kong. Most solicitors in Hong Kong practice in private practice, with a smaller number working in-house for corporations or as government counsel.

Who Regulates Lawyers in Hong Kong?

The legal profession in Hong Kong is regulated by the Law Society of Hong Kong, which is a statutory body established in 1976. The Society is responsible for promoting and safeguarding the interests of the legal profession in Hong Kong, and for regulating the professional conduct of its members. Society has a dual role as a professional and a public interest body.

Is Barrister the Same as Lawyer?

The terms barrister and lawyer are often used interchangeably, but they are two different types of legal practitioners. A barrister is courtroom advocacy and litigation specialist, while a lawyer may provide other legal services such as conveyancing, will preparation, and contracting.

Why do barristers not shake hands?

Many traditions and customs are associated with the legal profession, and one of these is the practice of not shaking hands with barristers. This is because shaking hands is considered a contractually binding gesture, so it could be seen as agreeing with the barrister. This could then be interpreted as the barrister agreeing to act on behalf of the person who has shaken their hand, which is not something they can do.

Conclusion

Lawyers in Hong Kong are part of the defense team, not the prosecution. They defend the accused even with their life, and according to the Ethics Code that lawyers in Hong Kong are obligated to follow, they must not take money and gifts from parties involved in the case.
