Career
Millar started his professional baseball career with the Saint Paul Saints of the Northern League in 1993. In 63 games, he had a batting average of.260 batting average, five home runs, and 30 RBI. On September 20, 1993, the Florida Marlins bought Millar’s contract.
Millar was a replacement player during the 1994–1995 Major League Baseball strike, playing with the replacements in early 1995.
Millar recorded the most consecutive games spanning multiple minor league tenures from 1997 to 1999, reaching base with 71. In 2003, future Red Sox teammate Kevin Youkilis tied this record. The Marlins acquired Millar’s contract at the start of the 1998 season, and he debuted on April 11, 1998, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He went 1-for-2 with a walk and finished the game with a walk. The Marlins subsequently lost the contest 7-6. He played only one more game before joining Triple-A Charlotte Knights for the rest of the season. During his time there, he had a batting average of .326, hit four home runs, and had 15 RBI.
