He concentrated on the lives and humanity of regular residents in terrible times while reporting from war-torn nations across the globe, particularly in Africa and the Middle East. Books and DVDs on blood diamonds alongside child soldiers in Sierra Leone, the Rwandan tragedy and its survivors, a young mother in an Estonian “AIDS village,” and girls and education in Afghanistan are among his works.
