Attorney General Derek Schmidt of Kansas is getting ready to release his first television advertisement as part of his campaign for governor. In the commercial, he will criticize both Democratic Governor Laura Kelly and President Joe Biden’s economic record over the past few months.
Schmidt adds in his commercial, which was initially shared with Fox News Digital and goes under the title “Just Listen,” that “Joe Biden’s inflation is harming everyone and, truth be told, Laura Kelly is making it worse.”
Schmidt leveled the accusation that Kelly was spending “more than [Kansas] can afford.” Additionally, Schmidt’s campaign stated that Kansas’ total expenditures grew by 35.5% from the fiscal year 2019 to the fiscal year 2023.
Schmidt mentioned some guidance he received from the late Senator Bob Dole (R-KS), who served as the state’s House representative for eight years and as a senator for another 27 years. This guidance prompted Schmidt to listen to his constituents because they will “show [him] the way,” according to Schmidt.
