Jorginho says he feels bad about the Penalty miss against West Ham.
When the game seemed to end in a stalemate, Craig Dawson pulled Lukaku in the 87th minute to give the hosts a penalty.
The Italian Midfielder set up to take the penalty but ended up putting the ball into the hands of Lukasz Fabianski.
However, Chelsea went on to win the match thanks to Christian Pulisic’s 90th-minute strike to end Chelsea’s 3 consecutive defeats at Stamford Bridge.
What did he say?
Jorginho has apologized for the Penalty miss and also blamed the delay by VAR as the reason he missed the penalty.
Speaking to Sky Sports he said: “There’s pressure in games like this which you need to win and it’s the last minutes.
“You try to isolate your mind from the pressure, even with VAR so it takes a bit longer and it’s harder to keep focus.
“As usual I try to isolate my mind from this pressure. This time it didn’t work.
“When you have that little moment of doubt, that’s when you make a mistake. Maybe I had too much time to think about it! I’m sorry, I feel bad.”
Jorginho was criticized for his Penalty miss by SkySports pundits Graeme Souness saying:
‘Pathetic. It bounces before it gets to the goalkeeper.
‘That’s exactly how not to take a penalty. Poor penalty.’
However, Thomas Tuchel refuses to criticize the Italian for missing the crucial penalty kick.
Jorginho had a perfect record with us so normally you believe and we all believed we had finally the chance to score the goal we needed,’ Tuchel said.
‘He has a certain style of shooting. When he scores it looks unbelievable, cool, calm, composed.
‘When he misses a penalty, it looks like: could he have done better?
‘But it’s his style and he’s right to stick with it. He’s very upset with himself.’
Jorginho insists Chelsea will not underestimate Manchester United
Chelsea will face out of form Manchester United on Thursday at the Old Trafford.
But Jorginho believes that despite the form of Manchester United, the Blues must put up a strong performance to neutralize the threat of Ronaldo and his Teammates.
“As everyone knows they are a big team, a strong team, sometimes maybe this season was up and down [for them] and that’s why you can’t know what to expect. You need to be ready for everything and stronger performance, because they are a strong team with really good individual players.”
???? "As everyone knows, they are a big team and a strong team."
