JHS students and teachers taste their first free hot meal today

Final Year Junior high school students and teachers today August 24, have been served with their free hot meal as promised by government.

President Akufo-Addo in his 15th address to the nation, explained that government will be feeding 584, 000 students and 146,000 tutors as part of measures which will help in the fight against coronavirus in basic Schools.

“As a result of reports I have received that some final year JHS students are going hungry in complying with COVID-19 protocols, I have just instructed the Minister for Gender and Social Protection to begin preparation to ensure that as from 24th August up to 18th of September, all 584,000 final year JHS students and 146,000 staff both in public and private schools be given one hot meal a day. This is to ensure full adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols.”

The promise has been fulfilled as tutors and students today, were served with Hot Jollof rice and egg with shito.

The Exercise which begins today is expected to last for twenty days (24th August to 18th September) and students who are qualified are those taking part in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
