Former Arsenal and Arsenal Midfielder Jamie O’hara claim Tottenham Hotspurs can now attract better players than Manchester United.
According to O’Hara, Tottenham Hotspurs finished fourth in the Premier League and will play the Champions League next season coupled with Antonio Conte as their coach makes them a more favorable destination for players than Manchester United.
Tottenham had completed the signing of three players in the transfer window already. The London-based club earlier this month confirmed the signing of Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan and Fraser Forster from Southampton.
On Friday Tottenham confirmed the €25 million signing of Yves Bissouma from Brighton and Hove Albion. the defensive midfielder cited his desire to play in the Champions as one of the reasons why he joined Tottenham.
Tottenham is also reported to be interested in Richarlison and more signings are expected to follow.
Manchester United on the other hand is yet to sign any player this summer and has already missed out on the signing of Darwin Nunez to Liverpool.
What did Jamie O’hara say?
Speaking via talkSPORTS, the former Tottenham and Arsenal midfielder said: “Because we got fourth place, because we’ve got Antonio Conte as a manager and because we’ve got Son and Kane and world-class players, players now look at it and would rather sign for Tottenham than Man United.
“You would. The facilities are great, you’re in London so why would you sign for Manchester United right now? You’d rather sign for Tottenham.”
O’Hara also compared Antonio Conte’s transfer business to Jurgen Klopp when he first arrived at Liverpool and how he slowly rebuilt the Liverpool team to make them competitive.
Jamie O’Hara added: “I don’t want to jump the gun but it feels like we’re doing what Jurgen Klopp did at Liverpool when he first came in.
“He rebuilt the team slowly, and then over the next two or three years this side could be unbelievable and challenge for something.”
Meanwhile, Jamie O’hara agrees with Alan Brazil who claims the Premier League title challenge is a two-horse race.
The Premier League in recent times has been described as a two-horse race between Manchester City and Liverpool.
Jamie O’hare said: “Of course it is.
“It’s a two-horse race because Spurs are nowhere near Premier League challengers, but with the business that we’re doing this is different.
“Tottenham always used to just wait until the last minute, try to get a deal, try to get someone on the cheap and we end up panic buying, spending money and it doesn’t work out.
“This season, before pre-season, we’ve signed players who are improving the first 11.
“It’s not just about improving the squad, but the first 11.”
