The Chelsea Loanee has been one of the breakthrough players of the 2021/2022 Premier League season.
Conor Gallagher has claimed that it was difficult watching Chelsea win over Crystal Palace and he wanted to be on the pitch.
The 22 years old England international is on a season-long loan at Crystal Palace but he was not able to feature in Crystal Palace’s defeat to Chelsea at Wembley after his parent Club Chelsea blocked him from playing against them.
The Blues went on to win the game by 2-0 thanks to goals from Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Gallagher has had an impressive season which has led to him receiving a call-up to the England national team.
Chelsea manager had also disclosed that he expects him (Conor Gallagher) to be at the Stamford Bridge next season and hinted that the 22-years old midfielder is crucial for his plans next season.
What did he say?
‘It was quite difficult to watch. I got over the fact that I wasn’t playing but watching the game I was just wanting to be on the pitch and to be playing,’ the 22-year-old told the South London Press.
‘Playing in games like this – the semi-final of the FA Cup at Wembley – is what everyone wants to do in their career, everyone wants to play in these games.
‘It was an amazing occasion for the club to be at Wembley and play in the semi-final. I’m proud of the boys, it was a good game to watch. Chelsea played well and they were the better team on the day.
“We have done well to be here. We know we probably could have done better. The game, it’s such small details, if we go 1-0 up then it could be a whole different game.
‘It wasn’t meant to be. We just have to dust ourselves off and go again.’
Conor has scored eight goals and assisted five so far this season. Crystal Palace is 13th on the League table and three points off the 10th position.
Gallagher hopes he can score more goals and help Crystal Palace secure a top ten finish.
‘I want to play well and help the team as much as I can and hopefully score a couple more goals. There are not many games left and we want to finish as strong as possible.
‘I’m literally just focusing on the end of the season. There’s a few games left and that’s the most important thing right now.’
