A wave of airstrikes in Yemen is continuing following the Houthi launch of a missile at Tel Aviv. Reportedly, power plants in Sanaa have been targeted, resulting in widespread power outages.
Overnight Israeli airstrikes in Yemen targeted key infrastructure at three ports controlled by the Iran-backed Houthis. The strikes were aimed at halting further commercial shipping to the ports. Additionally, The strikes reportedly destroyed all tugboats used to bring Ships into the Port, effectively crippling port operations.
Following the strikes, Israel Defense Minister Israel Katz, in an X post on Thursday, vowed that Israel’s “long hand” will reach the leaders of Yemen’s Houthi movement.
In the X post, Katz said, “I warn the leaders of the Houthi terrorist organization: Israel’s long hand will reach you as well.
“However raises a hand against the state of Israel, his hand will be cut off; whoever harms, will be harmed sevenfold.”
At least 9 Workers are now reported to have been killed as a result of Israeli Airstrikes on the Ras Al-Issa Oil Refinery and Port within the City of Hodeida in Western Yemen.
In a previous operation, Israel targeted cranes at Hodeidah port, disrupting the unloading of shipments. Following this latest assault, it is believed that all Houthi-controlled port activity has been brought to a standstill.
According to reports, the Israelis conducted 15 air strikes in these targeted areas;
- 4 attacks on the Haziz power plant in the south of the capital Sanaa
- 2 attacks on the DD’Habbanpower plant, north of the capital Sanaa
- 7 attacks on the Port of Al-Hudaydah
- 2 attacks on the oil facility in Ras Al-Issa
Based on a report by an Iran-aligned Houthis TV channel, Al Masirah TV, The Israeli airstrikes killed nine people: seven in the Port of Salif and two in the Ras Issa oil facility, both located in the western province of Hodeidah.
