According to Monmouth University research published on Tuesday, Americans are more concerned about the cost of living and the price of petrol than they are about abortion.
The study’s findings put an end to Democrats’ hopes of using this issue to persuade voters in the midterm elections. As the cost of living continues to rise, Republicans are likely to gain significant seats in state legislatures and Congress throughout the country.
One of the questions posed by the Monmouth pollsters was about the most pressing issue that respondents’ families are dealing with right now. Respondents expressed the following percentage of concerns about the future: Inflation was referenced by 33%, fuel was mentioned by 15%, the economy was blamed by 9%, everyday costs and food were discussed by 6%, and abortion was stated by 5%.
A shocking 41% of Monmouth University respondents reported that they are “struggling to maintain where they are financially.” The institution has been asking this question for five years, and this is the greatest response rate it has ever seen in that time. The previous best score was achieved by 29 percent of the total population.
