A security camera captured the footage of the first attack at one fraternity residence.
Indiana University fraternity member is slapped with seven felony charges after he was charged with assaulting two females in a week at Greek residences on campus in September.
Noah Apgar, a 20-year-old student, was accused of five counts of rape, one count of strangling and one count of criminal detention in connection with the alleged attacks by the authorities of Monroe County.
A spokesperson told the media, “On September 15, 2024, an IU student reported to officers that a rape occurred on September 6, 2024, at a Greek house on North Eagleson Avenue.” “The suspect in this case, Noah Apgar, is the same suspect from the rape that occurred on September 13, 2024, at Sigma Alpha Epsilon. On September 17, 2024, Apgar was arrested for rape, strangulation, and confinement. He has been trespassed from all IU property.”
According to a local news outlet, Apgar is the third male Indiana University student to be busted and charged in connection with sexual assaults since late August.
According to sources, the first reported assault occurred between midnight and 2 a.m. after a Friday evening out, which is detailed in a probable cause affidavit filed in Monroe County.
The Victim of the first case told the authorities that she met Apgar at a fraternity house, and they later connected on Snapchat, though they never spoke in person.
According to the affidavit, Apgar allegedly told the Victim at the fraternity house that she was” ‘only dressed like this to get with every other guy here’ or ‘you’re dressed like that because you talk to guys.'”
According to the affidavit, the Victim travelled with Apgar to his fraternity house at Sigma Alpha Epsilon that evening. At the Fraternity, Apgar managed to convince the Victim to enter the restroom with him when they started consensually kissing until the suspect became aggressive and assaulted the Victim despite her vocal pleas to stop.
Campus police obtained security camera footage, which shows the victim “smiling and willingly walking behind Mr. Apgar.” But when she emerges from the restroom, “she looks generally dishevelled,” with red marks on her neck.
The Victim left the fraternity house screaming for help and eventually found two sorority members who escorted her to their residence and provided her with the needed assistance.
A security camera also displayed footage of a student holding Apgar back from following the Victim.
The police stated that the events in the second attack were similar to the first, though the details are not outlined in the court records.
Sigma Alpha Epsilon told the media that the SAE Fraternity Service Center “was made aware of an allegation involving a member of our chapter at Indiana University.”
The Fraternity stated: “Upon learning of the alleged incident, Sigma Alpha Epsilon immediately suspended the member and started working with the University administration. We are also fully cooperating with local authorities to investigate the incident and have urged all of our local members to do the same.”
The group stated that “Sigma Alpha Epsilon deplores all acts of sexual violence.” “Violence in any form doesn’t represent the Fraternity’s core values as defined by our creed, The True Gentlemen. We are dedicated to the well-being of our members, guests, and their respective communities. Our staff will continue to collaborate with our units, university officials, and local alumni leaders to reinforce these values.”
