Thomas Tuchel has revealed that he has nothing against the Chelsea Midfielder after the German Coach was caught on camera screaming at the Italian.
Chelsea was unable to break stubborn Crystal Palace in the first half. The Blues turned the game around in the second half scoring second thanks to goals from Loftus-Cheek and Mount.
The Blues will now face Liverpool in the Finals of the FA Cup at Wembley on14th May.
What did Tuchel say?
Speaking ahead of their match with Arsenal, Thomas Tuchel explained that it was never personal.
‘I was very hard on him during the match. He had some situations he could do better and normally does,’ he said.
‘It is never personal. I love Jorgi. I know that he knows it. We see now we overused him, I have the feeling we see the consequences of these huge amounts of matches.
‘If he plays he is always fully involved, gives everything, and plays with a lot of effort.
‘He has to be fresh to have the influence he normally has. He is not mentally, or physically in the freshest moment at the minute.
‘He is not to blame. It affects how I analyze it, he had two or three situations where he could do better (vs Crystal Palace). Nothing personal. Nothing that stands between us.’
Thomas Tuchel also praised Jorginho for how he dealt with the pressure when Italy failed to qualify for the World Cup two consecutive times.
‘He played injured, sacrificed for the team (this season). I think you see it now. You can never underestimate how much pressure is on playing for the national team, the country, for Italy,’ Tuchel added.
‘The demands are high after big success like winning the Euros. I think he felt the pressure there, everybody in Italy felt it.
‘This is normal. Sometimes after big successes, it’s very difficult to keep ongoing. He put a lot of responsibility naturally on his shoulders because he is never shy to do so. He is never shy to do it here, this is why I love him.’
Jorginho contract situation
Jorginho has one year left on his contract, there are reports that the Italian will not renew his contract.
Italian journalist Filippo Cornacchia told the press: “Jorginho has a one-year contract that he will not renew.
The Italian agent has also confirmed that he has one year left on his contract and Chelsea has not started any negotiations with him.
His priority, according to his agency, is to prolong his contract with the World and European Champions, as reported by Calcio Mercato via Sport Witness.
I haven’t talked to Juve, but I know of their interest in Jorginho,” he admitted
“We have a contract with Chelsea until 2023 and it is a particular moment for the club, where there are no negotiations, also because the market is blocked both in entry and in the exit. If the situation unfolds, the priority will be to deal with the renewal.
“Should Chelsea fail to renew their contract, then we will listen to all the teams involved.”
