It is a cosmetic surgery performed to remove stubborn fat from various areas of the body. These areas include thighs, hips and buttocks, stomach, arms, and chin. It is often done in areas that do not respond well to exercise and is great for body contouring.

A simple procedure, lipo is performed under a light aesthetic and the fat is sucked out through a thin tube using a vacuum. It is a good idea, though, to prepare your body for this procedure, as well as understand what to expect once it has been done.

Before Liposuction Surgery

There are a few things that you should consider doing to prepare for liposuction Malaysia. While they are not compulsory, they will help your body respond better to the surgery, as well as heal better after.

There are a few different types of liposuction. For more information on these, check out this site.

Your Goal Weight

Now you may be wondering why you need to lose weight! Liposuction surgery is not a weight loss solution. While it does remove that lingering fat, it is still important to lose as much excess weight as you can beforehand.

The surgery will then tighten and reshape the last remaining bits once you have reached your goal weight.

Stop Smoking

Liposuction may be affected by your body’s intake of nicotine. It restricts blood flow throughout the body, which will impact how well you recover after as well.

Your plastic surgeon will probably also recommend that you do not continue smoking after you have set a date for your procedure.

Eat Healthily

A healthy diet pre-surgery will help you lose some of that extra weight, as well as boosting your health. It will help improve skin elasticity and boost the healing process.

Post-Surgery

The recovery from liposuction can take a few months. Ensure that you remain as healthy and hydrated as you are able through this time to help the healing.

Liposuction surgery is not a major surgery, and you should be able to leave the same day unless there is a large amount of fat removal. You will, however, need someone to help drive you home afterward.

The Days After

Always follow any post-op instructions given to you by your plastic surgeon. They will explain to you the bandaging and how long you will need them. You may also have a few small drains preventing fluid build-up, and it is important to know how to care for these to prevent infection.

Pain and discomfort should ease within a week or two, and you will be able to return to work if you have a sedentary job. If not, take more time off to heal properly. After a month, you should be clear to resume light exercise but do not overdo it.

After about six weeks, there may still be a slight amount of swelling, but you should be able to start seeing the results and resume your life as normal.

Schedule Your Surgery Today

Now that you have a better understanding of what to do before and after liposuction surgery, you can go ahead with booking your appointment. As long as you follow your surgeon’s instructions, you should have a smooth recovery.
