  • Standard office practices and procedures include everyday equipment use, essential record-keeping, and arithmetic.
  • Workplace safety, including safe driving rules and practices.
  • English grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and punctuation.
  • Techniques for providing excellent customer service by dealing effectively with the general public, vendors, students, and District employees of all ages, disabilities, socioeconomic, and ethnic groups.

Step 2: Develop skills. 

A candidate for the job of warehouse worker must possess the skills & abilities to:

  • Determine the need for spare parts and other inventory items.

Education and Experience:

Any appropriate mix of education and experience may acquire knowledge, skills, and talents. A typical method of obtaining the necessary qualifications would be equivalent to completing the twelfth (12th) grade and one (1) year of warehousing experience with automated inventory procedures.

Step 3: Research warehouse worker duties. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

The candidate:

  • Working in a standard warehouse setting with and around various equipment, parts, and inventory requires mobility.
  • Must have strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium physical work.
  • Vision for reading written materials and a computer screen, hearing conversations in person and over the phone/radio, and expressing oneself well in writing are all necessities.
  • The duty includes walking and working on slick surfaces. Finger dexterity is required to access, enter, and retrieve data from a computer keyboard or calculator. Workers in this designation must lean, bend, kneel, reach, and climb to perform their duties.
  • Employees must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects to weigh up to 50 pounds and heavier weights using proper equipment.

ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS

  • Employees are primarily exposed to loud noise levels, vibration, chemicals, dust, mechanical hazards, and moving objects or other vehicles while working in the warehouse. 
  • Cold and high temperatures, bad weather, chemicals, mechanical risks, and harmful physical substances and gases are all possible.
  • Employees may be required to interact with staff and public and private representatives to interpret departmental policies and procedures.
