A younger and more diverse Republican majority than in previous years will take over the U.S. House of Representatives in January.
Republicans gained the majority in the House this midterm election cycle by flipping 21 seats held by Democrats, although falling far short of the widely anticipated “red wave.” Women and minorities won many of those victories.
Wesley Hunt, a recently elected representative from Texas, won a congressional district located in the suburbs of Houston. Hunt, a black former helicopter pilot who is 41 years old, told Fox News Digital that he was proud to be a member of the next wave of conservative leaders.
This week, we snapped a picture of the freshman class, and Hunt stated, “I was absolutely amazed by how different this group is.” Look at how many women, combat veterans, African Americans, and Hispanics ran for office under the Republican banner this time. It’s not just about those who won, however.
