The hunt for a missing lady and her parents continues after her husband was detained on suspicion of murder after police linked a body part discovered in a garbage back to their Los Angeles area home, according to officials.
Mei Li Haskell, 37, Gaoshan Li, 71, and Yanxiang Wang, 64, are missing, and detectives have detained Samuel Haskell, 35, after a bag containing an unidentified female body was discovered in a garbage, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
According to investigators, the bag was traced back to the residence Mei Li Haskell and Samuel Haskell lived with their three children and her parents. When cops arrived at the home on Wednesday, they discovered blood and other evidence, according to CNN affiliate KABC.
According to authorities, Samuel Haskell is being jailed on $2,000,000 bail. It’s unknown whether he has an attorney. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Inmate Information Center, he is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
Haskell is the son of Emmy-winning producer and Hollywood agent Sam Haskell, who represented Kathie Lee Gifford, Whoopi Goldberg, Dolly Parton, George Clooney, and other celebrities. CNN has reached out to Haskell senior for comment.
According to authorities, the youngsters are being looked after by family members.
Investigators informed KABC that no more body parts were located and that DNA results from the corpse were awaiting, but Los Angeles Police Department Capt. Scot Williams stated the torso is thought to be Mei Li Haskell, according to the Los Angeles Times.
“Typically, if someone, a murder suspect, is dismembering a body, it’s to delay identification,” LAPD Detective Efren Gutierrez told CNN affiliate KCBS on Wednesday. “So that by implication would mean that they may have been known to each other.”
