DeLisle grew up in a Mexican-American home after being born at Fort Ord, California, to truck driver George Van Oosbree and vocalist Joanna Ruth. According to her, her father’s love of country music has had the most significant effect on her musical taste. She began singing old gospel songs in her late teens and joined the realm of comedy on the advice of a friend.
DeLisle started voicing Daphne Blake in the Scooby-Doo series with the direct-to-video picture Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase, a part she acquired from her friend and instructor Mary Kay Bergman after the latter’s passing.
