Chelsea signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the deadline day of the transfer window to help the blues solve their goal-scoring woes following the departure of Rômulo Lukaku on loan to inter Milan.
The Gabonese international is yet to hit the ground running after playing two games in the Champions League for Chelsea.
Raheem Sterling has been Chelsea’s best signing of the summer so far. The former Manchester City winger has scored four goals in eight appearances for Chelsea, including three in six Premier League outings.
Mason Mount will hope to continue his impressive performance against Germany in the National League to Chelsea. The Chelsea players of the season have shown a dip in form this season. The 23-year-old has one goal involvement in eight appearances for Chelsea.
Graham Potter dropped Mount in their last match against RB Salzburg.
However, Glen Johnson has admitted that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will score more goals when he settles in at Chelsea and he is happy.
What did Glen Johnson say?
The former England international said via SafeBettingSites.“As long as he’s the Aubameyang of old and wants to be there, he’s proved that he is a goal machine when he’s happy,”
“They’ve got a good player. It’s just more about where his head’s at.
“[Sterling has] not surprised me because I’ve always thought he’s capable of this. He doesn’t surprise me at all.
“The surprise is that Man City let him go to Chelsea. Sterling is capable of what he’s doing at the moment and you’d have to say he is their main man at the moment.
“[Mount] set the bar really high. He was pretty much the center of everything that Chelsea did well last season. You don’t lose your class overnight.
“It’s just a little bit of confidence that’s missing. He’s still capable of top performances and I’m sure he’ll bounce back soon, but he’s just not firing on all cylinders at the moment.”
Glen Johnson feels Chelsea made a mistake by not sending Conor Gallagher on loan.
The Chelsea academy graduate spent the last season on loan at Crystal Palace.
He was one of the breakthrough players of last season and was named Crystal Palace of the year after scoring eight goals in thirty-four appearances for Crystal Palace last season. His impressive performance for Crystal Palace earned him a call into the England National Team.
Glen Johnson added: “I don’t think in terms of leaving the club, but another season on loan for Gallagher would have been great for him.
“Personally, I would have liked him to carry on his development. He was clearly enjoying himself.
“I’d rather have Chelsea have let him go back out on loan and then re-evaluate the situation at the end of the season.”
Gallagher was a substitute in Graham Potter’s first game in charge as a Chelsea manager against RB Salzburg. Let’s hope and see if he can convince Graham Potter to earn a place in his starting line eleven.
