GETFUND SAGA: NDC members don’t like schooling – Zongo Minister’s aide

Faisal Ibrahim, an aide to Zongo Minister Dr Mustapha Abdul Hamid has disclosed that members of the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) are allergic to schooling a situation which gave members of the New Patriotic Party the opportunity to easily get scholarships to further their education outside the country.

Some grassroots members of the NDC have voiced out their anger after names of some NPP members were captured in the scholarship scheme under the Mills-Mahama administration.Their anger follows an audit report of the Auditor-General on the administration of scholarships by GETFund between 2012 and 2018.

Reacting to the development, a lawyer, Faisal Ibrahim said “what is that the NDC in power kept giving GETFund scholarships to NPP folks? NDC folks don’t like school or what?” he asked.

Scores of the NDC are not happy about the GETFUND audit revelation as some have started taking their leaders to the cleaners. It revealed that several allegedly undeserving people were given the opportunity at the expense of those most deserving.

Some of the names include now Education Minister Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, Procurement Minister and Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament and the Executive Secretary of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), Prince Hamidu Armah who are NPP members.

Faisal Ibrahim believes if members of the NDC have taken their academic life seriously during their reign in office, most of their members would have gotten scholarships which might have given them a better life than engaging in cheap political talks with no facts.
