Investigators found that the four teenagers, three females and one, were residing in terrible circumstances. Charges have been brought against two parents in Georgia on allegations of abusing their children, particularly holding their four adolescents captive in their beds for extended periods.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office stated that James and Cindy Spooner have each been charged with four charges of first-degree child abuse and false imprisonment, as reported by Fox 5 Atlanta.
Four teenagers, three girls and one boy, were found living in inhumane circumstances in the family’s four-bedroom ranch-style house in Whitesburg, Georgia after detectives executed a search warrant there.
According to the sheriff’s office, outdoor doors and windows were boarded up in an apparent attempt to keep the kids from leaving the house, and each child’s bedroom had a deadbolt lock on the outside of the door.
The youngsters claimed to authorities they had spent hours or even days imprisoned in their beds without access to a bathroom other than a bucket. The kids said that their parents choose whether or not to provide them with food.
The sheriff’s office released a statement saying, “No one should be treated like they have been, and this is a heartbreaking situation for these innocent children.” “We hope the perpetrators receive severe punishment through the legal system and pray for their physical and mental healing from this.”
