But which is the best car for you? Listed below is what sets the Genesis G70 vs G80 apart to help you understand which car is the best fit for you.

Style and Design

The Genesis G70 and G80 are two luxury sedans in the Genesis lineup. The G70 and G80 provide two distinct styles and designs.

The G70, being the smaller of the two, is a compact sports sedan with a sharp and modern design. The exterior features chiseled curves, deep body lines, and a sweeping roofline. Inside, the G70 has a digital instrument panel that is designed with attention to detail and luxury materials.

The G80, on the other hand, has a more mature presence with a luxurious exterior that is highlighted by plush LED lighting and a strong profile. Inside, the G80 has a sleek interior layout with expansive legroom and abundant headroom. The G80 features a digital instrument panel with a rotating knob that is convenient for controlling the infotainment system.

Performance Capabilities

The Genesis G70 and G80 are both performance-oriented vehicles designed to deliver a luxurious driving experience. Both vehicles focus on providing a soft, refined ride, but the G70 stands out as the sports sedan of the two. Its 2.0L turbocharged engine and 8-speed automatic transmission provide a level of power and acceleration that is rare to find in the luxury segment.

In contrast, the G80 offers a 3.3L V6 that packs a serious punch. The 10-speed transmission makes for a smooth ride no matter how fast you’re going.

Both of these vehicles can more than satisfy the demanding needs of seasoned drivers. Whether long-distance road trips or competing in road rallies, these sedans offer superior performances.

Price Point and Warranty

The G70 has a starting MSRP of $34,900, while the G80 has a starting MSRP of $44,750. Both cars have an impressive list of standard features, such as leather seating, and are available with various optional packages. The G70 and G80 offer similar warranties and coverage options.

Both come with a five-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, and a five-year complimentary maintenance plan. The G70 also comes with a five-year/unlimited mile roadside assistance plan, while the G80 comes with an available Sun and Sound package that includes five-year/unlimited mile roadside assistance. Customers will be able to make an informed decision based on the value the two models offer, taking into account the different features and warranty and maintenance coverage.

Safety Assessments

When it comes to safety ratings, the G70 is provisional, having been named an IIHS Top Safety Pick+, and has earned a 5-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). G80, on the other hand, is an IIHS Top Safety Pick and has earned a 4-star rating from NHTSA. Crash protection in both was very good, though the G70 was equipped with extra crash avoidance technology.

This includes a standard forward collision warning with pedestrian detection. In terms of features, the G80 can be equipped with a host of advanced protection options such as lane-keep assist or diminished stability control, however, such features are not available on the G70.

Customization Options for the G70 and G80

Exterior options include alloy wheels, rear spoilers, body kits, and personalized license plates. For the interior of the vehicle, customers can customize the seating, upholstery, steering wheel, and trim pieces. Other optional features include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, surround sound audio system, and a premium navigation system.

With the right combination of upgrades, customers can create a vehicle that is as unique as they are. With so many available customization options, there are endless possibilities for personalizing the G70 and Genesis G80 for any individual’s needs.

Contrasting the Gas Mileage

The G70 offers a 17/25 mpg city/highway fuel economy, with the 5.0L V8 offering 15/23 mpg. The G80 takes a significant jump in efficiency, offering up to/29 mpg city/highway when configured with a 3.8L V6 and 19/27 mpg with its 5.0L V8. This provides a noticeable difference in fuel economy when driven on both city streets as well as highways, with the G80 consuming much less fuel than the G70.

This difference is most visible in the 5.0L V8 models, which offer an 8 mpg difference in highway fuel economy and a 4 mpg difference for city driving. G80 provides a much more efficient performance that can help reduce costs and emissions for drivers.
