Anyone found guilty could face a prison sentence of up to ten years if convicted in court.
A new piece of legislation in Alabama went into effect on Monday, making it illegal to provide or execute gender transition surgery on children.
The legislation was signed into law by Republican Governor Kay Ivey of Alabama in early April of this year. Those who undergo puberty blockers, hormone therapy, or transition surgery while under the age of 19 may be sentenced to up to ten years in prison under the law.
