Four suspects targeted and attacked a homosexual couple in Times Square in New York City on Saturday.
Around 10:30 p.m. on April 8, two males were walking through Times Square when at least four suspects began to insult them.
“They approach us and inform us that we must relocate. They are of the opinion that you need to relocate. They begin pushing us, one of the victims told New York’s FOX 5 News. The couple requested privacy out of concern for their protection.
While assaulting the couple, the suspects reportedly used profanity and made anti-gay comments.
Two males were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where one required a metal plate to be placed in his fractured jaw.
The couple also reported that Times Square was packed with people during the attack, but no one intervened. No suspects have yet been apprehended.
“The subject fled the scene to an unknown location,” the New York Police Department (NYPD) told FOX 5 New York in a statement, adding that it may be investigated as a hate crime as more information is gathered.
“The victims were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in good health.” There have been no arrests, and the investigation continues,” the statement concluded.
