In accordance with an order from the Soldiers’ Compensation Board, Jessica Elaintrell Smith is required to pay full restitution to the Army in the sum of $1.3 million.
According to reports from The News God, an Army veteran who admitted to stealing military equipment worth $2.1 million from Fort Hood in Texas was sentenced to a little over a year and a half in prison last week for her offenses.
In April, Jessica Elaintrell Smith, who is now 30 years old, entered an early guilty plea to the charge of conspiring to defraud the United States government. As a result of the plea deal, another charge that was included in the indictment was dropped.
Smith, Nathan Nichols, and Brandon Dominic Brown are believed to have stolen a total of 68 PAS-13 scopes, 47 RT 1523 radios, nine AN-PSC 5 radios, four PVS-14 scopes, three pieces of night vision equipment, three AN/PRC 117 radios, two receiver/transmitters, and one AN-VRC-90 radio between the 16th and 17th of June, 2021.
It was discovered during an investigation that the locks on 17 Conex cargo containers at the base had been broken into and that 137 items with a total value of $2.1 million had been stolen.
