It is one thing to have talent, and it is another thing to succeed as a professional footballer; that is the case of former Portuguese international Fábio Paím.
Fábio Paím was a teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo during his time at Sporting Lisbon. Many scouts at the time had claimed Fabio Paím was more than talented than five times Ballon d’Or winner and superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
The major highlight of Fábio Paím’s career was his loan to Chelsea in 2008, which lasted only four months but only appeared for the reserves team. In his 11 years of professional football career, he made only over 60 appearances for 10 clubs, most of them on loan. The 36-year-old most recent club he played for was Leixões B in Portugal.
Fábio represented Portugal 42 times at various youth levels but did not make any senior team appearance.

“He was good at football, and he is good at porn. He’s going to be a success. I hope this film is the first of many with Paim.”
His new career path is not the first time Fábio Paím has made headlines, last year he was all over the news when he said he was more talented than Ronaldo and that he would have won a Ballon d’Or if only he had ‘half’ Portuguese superstar’s brain.
Fábio Paím told on the podcast hosted by PT Clipe: “I went to Sporting when I was seven years old, I grew up there. They were years of glory in which I won everything I could.
“I didn’t reach where I could have reached, but I marked a generation. If people don’t forget, it’s because I marked them. I said when I was happy that I thought Cristiano Ronaldo could offer me a Ballon d’Or. But it was with humility. If I had half of Cristiano’s head, it wouldn’t be him and Messi.
“It would be me, him and Messi and maybe he wouldn’t have won the Ballon d’Ors that he has. Maybe one of them was mine.”
Let’s hope that Fábio Paím new career will be more successful than his football career.
