Forget about the ‘Akyem Sakawa Mafia’ and let’s debate on issues – Mahama tells Akufo-Addo

Former President John Dramani Mahama has called on President Akufo-Addo to come debate him on issues of national interest and stop complaining about the ‘Akyem Sakawa Mafia’.

The flag Bearer of the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) reminded the President after the latter asked the Catholic Bishops conference to call Mahama to order.

“You will remember that on two occasions in the recent past I’ve called for a debate with President Akufo-Addo he’s not found it worthy to respond to that call. I can understand Akufo-Addo’s frustration and desperation and deliberate attempt to whip up ethnic sentiments in this particular case. I don’t think it will wash.”

To H.E. John Dramani Mahama, his campaign message to the good people of Ghana is based on issues and not insults.

“I’ve advocated a campaign of issues and that is what I’m focusing on as I engage and interact with people in my tour of this country. It is important for me to point out that no one has described his ethnic group or any other ethnic group in the manner in which the President mounts this complaint.”

He explained that he never made any comment which sought to disrespect a particular ethnic group as speculated by a group of people but he just shared an article that makes specific mention of some members of Akufo-Addo’s family who were behind a fishy deal to rob the nation.
