Immediately following the judgment made by the Supreme Court to defend Coach Kennedy’s right to free speech, religious leaders from all over the country expressed their thoughts on the issue.

A former high school football coach in the state of Washington who had been fired from a public school for praying silently on the 50-yard line after games of football has won his case before the Supreme Court of the United States. The decision was made in favor of the former coach by the high court.

From 2008 until 2015, Joe Kennedy was employed by the Bremerton School District in Washington, first as the head coach of the junior varsity squad and later as an assistant coach for the varsity team. He held both of these positions during his time there.

After some time had passed, the students started to join him in praying to themselves after each game, although before they had only seen him do this alone.
