Three Chelsea players were called up for England Nations League matches with Ben Chilwell missing out.
England manager Garth Southgate announced the England squad for the upcoming Nations League games against Hungary, Germany, and Italy.
Three Chelsea players made the list with Manchester City dominating the list with five players.
Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher, and Reece James were the Chelsea players who made the list.
Mason Mount
The 23 years old has been sensational for Chelsea this season. He was Chelsea’s top goal scorer in the Premier League with 11goals. The Chelsea Midfielder obtained double figures in both goals and assists in the Premier League.
He was named Chelsea player of the season for the second consecutive time after making 53 appearances this season for Chelsea.
Reece James
James made 39 appearances for Chelsea this season after being sidelined with injury for the major part of the season. His injury was a huge blow to Thomas Tuchel as his absence resulted in such a run of poor form.
He scored 6 goals and provided 11 assists including five goals and nine assists in the Premier League.
Conor Gallagher
The Chelsea loanee has been one of the breakthrough players of the season after enjoying a successful loan spell with Crystal Palace.
Gallagher is expected to be back at Chelsea next season with Thomas Tuchel claiming he has big plans for the 22-year-old midfielder next season.
Conor Gallagher scored eight goals and provided five assists and 39 assists for Crystal Palace.
He was named Crystal Palace player of the season and young player of the season.
First Time Call ups
West Ham Jarrod Bowen and Leicester City’s James Justin received their first call-up to the England National Team.
Jarrod Bowen was named among the Premier League player of the season nominees. the 25 year was arguably West Ham player of the season after scoring 18 goals and providing 13 assists in 51 appearances for this season including 12 goals and 12 assists in the Premier League.
James Justin has been a regular starter for Leicester City since his return from injury in 2022.
Notable Absentees
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson did not make the list while Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings and striker Ollie Watkins were also left out.
Manchester United trio Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Luke Shaw were all left out of the squad following Manchester’s poor season.
Ben Chilwell who made his injury comeback against Watford did not receive a call-up.
There was also no place for Emile Smith Rowe, Eric Dier, and James Maddison.
The omission of Jordan Henderson and James Maddison from the list will come as a huge surprise as the duo have impressive this season for their respective clubs.
