Chelsea Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has sent a heartfelt message to the former Chelsea technical and performance advisor Petr Cech after he announced he has stepped down from his position.
Petr Cech joined Chelsea former Bruce Buck and Sporting director Marina Granovskaia to leave Stamford Bridge following the arrival of new owners.
Reacting to his Chelsea exit, Petr Cech said: “It has been a huge privilege to perform this role at Chelsea for the past three years.
“With the Club under new ownership, I feel now is the right time for me to step aside.
“I am pleased that the Club is now in an excellent position with the new owners, and I am confident of its future success both on and off the pitch.”
Edouard Mendy in his recent documentary with Chelsea’s official website dubbed “I’ve got everything I ever dreamed of ”, the Senegalese international disclosed that Petr Cech was one of the reasons why he joined Chelsea.
In the interview, Mendy said: “Petr was a big factor in me coming to Chelsea. Petr and also Christophe Lollichon are people who, when I wake up in the morning, make me think about how I need to show them that they made the right decision.
“You have to always make them proud with your performances on the pitch. Last year, I had the chance to train with Petr and I had the opportunity to see what a great player he was, even if he had decided to take a step back from the game.
“You know what they say, talent never dies – I was lucky enough to see him evolve and to get advice from him every day. What he says is very important to me, especially from a goalkeeper who won a lot at Chelsea and is a legend of goalkeeping. So, it’s massively important to have his opinion and expertise as well as what we get from the goalkeeping coaches.”
Petr Cech was the one who scouted Edouard Mendy from Rennes and urged Chelsea to sign the Senegalese Goalkeeper. Mendy since joining Chelsea has been one of the best Goalkeepers In the World.

Meanwhile, Paul Merson has criticized Todd Boehly following the departure of Marina Granovskaia and Petr Cech.
The former Arsenal player said via Sky Sport: “It does, it does very much so (concern me),” he told Sky Sports. “I thought people who came in there would’ve left Petr Cech in his position and the lady who did an unbelievable job – I’m sorry I can’t pronounce her name. But did a great job at the club, I think you shadow them, keep them there and shadow them. It’s not baseball or basketball, you’re not doing trade. This is professional football, I’m quite shocked that these two have left the way they’ve left.”
