Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has said the intermittent power supply popularly referred to as ‘Dumsor’ that faced the country some years past has become a thing of the past.
According to the Minister in his Mid-year Budget review to Parliament Thursday, the Akufo-Addo led administration has done it best in restoring power supply to the homes of Ghanaians and has even extended Electricity to some rural areas where there was no lights.
“It is clear to our fellow Ghanaians by now that we have enjoyed three and half years of reliable and cheaper power,” he stated.
He noted that government has made extra expenses in power stabilization in the country.
” We have spent in excess of GH¢4.7 billion on capacity payments, not only to ensure that we keep the lights on, but also pay for power we do not use under very questionable contractual obligations we inherited.”
