US President Donald Trump, who has donated each of his salary payments to government agencies or programs since becoming President, has donated his 2019 fourth quarterly salary to the Department of Health and Human Services to help counter coronavirus outbreak in the US.Trump made the payment after a Tuesday afternoon trip to the National Institute of Health to meet top immunologist Anthony Fauci, as the US now has 100 confirmed coronavirus cases with nine deaths reported in Washington.
Trump’s annual salary is $400,000 each year from which he gets $100,000 paid every three months.
White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham posted an image of Trump’s $100,000 cheque to HHS Secretary Alex Azar on Monday.
Trump sent a $2.5 billion supplementary funding request to Congress last week to counter coronavirus spread, but lawmakers opposed the amount because it was insufficient to claim the virus required $8 million to help fight it.
