The Secret Service claims that in exchange for Butler, the former president is getting “heightened” security.
When fervent Trump supporters gathered to the Butler Farm Show grounds to hear the former president, their top concern was safety.
There were snipers on rooftops ahead of the protest, police were everywhere among the throng—a Butler County Sheriff’s official estimated the size of the gathering at high to 60,000 people—and the Secret Service admitted increased protection. This was Trump’s second visit to the Pennsylvania location where he just avoided being assassinated in July. The former president is expected to speak at five o’clock EST.
Friends who drove more than three hours to see Trump claimed that although their families were worried about them attending the rally, they felt secure because of the increased security.
According to Jody Cavalieri, “our families weren’t too crazy about us coming today.” “But we see the snipers, the police everywhere, and the camaraderie, and it’s great.”
“It’s an amazing feeling, people coming from all over the country,” stated Dena Diebold.
Since the first Butler demonstration in July, the Secret Service has increased security, including on the roof of an adjacent warehouse where authorities believe Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, shot on July 13.
Crooks fired eight shots, striking Trump’s ear, killing Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old fireman and father of two girls, and injuring two more.
Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesman for the US Secret Service (USSS), said Fox News Digital that Trump will be under “heightened” protection for the second Butler event.
“Since the attempted assassination of former President Trump on July 13, the U.S. Secret Service has made comprehensive changes and enhancements to our communications capabilities, resourcing and protective operations,” he stated. “Today, the former President is receiving heightened protection, and we take the responsibility to ensure his safety and security very seriously.”
According to Guglielmi, the USSS is “coordinating closely” with both local and Pennsylvania State Police law enforcement.
“We are also leveraging other federal security resources to expand personnel and technology,” he stated. “We can’t discuss the security improvements in detail to safeguard the integrity of our protective activities. As part of our operations, locals can anticipate traffic delays and a greater presence of state, municipal, and federal law enforcement.”
Observing the increased security, supporters reported feeling safer than they had on July 13.
“It is undoubtedly safer. Pointing to the snipers on the roofs, David Mills said to Fox News Digital, “Way more secure.” “Up on the roof back there, you have snipers.” There is law enforcement everywhere.
“I didn’t feel unsafe in July, but the security back in July was way less than four years ago [in Butler] and today,” he stated.
Others claimed that they felt secure attending because of the increased protection.
“Yes, I do feel secure. “I know they increased security because I watch Fox News,” said Denise Materia, the Saint Mary School District’s athletic secretary. “I see the security here, and I saw the notices of things that we cannot bring in.”
Real estate salesperson Dan Beasley made the joke that this was the “safest place in America.”
He laughed and remarked, “It’s probably the safest place in America right now.” “I’ll say that.”
“People are at ease,” he said. “This is a group of God-fearing people who are here taking a stand.”
“People are at ease,” he said. “This is a group of God-fearing people who are here taking a stand.”
After two attempted assassinations in the last nine weeks—one in Butler and the other at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida—Trump’s team said that he is “more determined than ever.”
“In that Butler field on July 13, he took a bullet for democracy — and on Nov. 5, he is going to save our democracy,” they stated. “With the help of the amazing people of Pennsylvania and citizens all across our land, we will make America safer, stronger, freer and greater than ever before.”
