After being introduced to singer-songwriter and bass guitarist Joyce Irby of the band Klymaxx by his manager, William Burke, Dallas Austin received his big break in the music business. He collaborated with Irby on Troop’s album “Attitude” in 1989, and the two recorded the hit R&B track “Mr. DJ” together. The tracks “My Music,” “My Love,” and “I Will Always Love You” are co-written and co-produced by Austin and Irby on that album. Over the ensuing years, there were several more hits: Boyz II Men’s debut album “Cooleyhighharmony”; Another Bad Creation’s “Iesha” and “Playground” singles; TLC’s albums “Ooooooohhh… On the TLC Tip” and “CrazySexyCool.”
Dallas enjoyed one of his most mainstream successes with TLC’s 1994 track “Creep,” which became the band’s first number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100.
